My First Christmas...

Elijah's first Christmas started off with a bang! We spent Saturday with Pops, Nana, Uncle Josh, and Uncle Jim. Mom and Dad had a full meal while Nana and Pops played with Elijah. Elijah had a taste of potatoes but he didn't care for them! The best part of the day was watching Pops and Nana play with Elijah. We all saw a side of Pops we had never seen before. Amazing what a baby as cute as Elijah will do to a grown man! :)

Christmas Eve started with a huge birthday party for Jesus at church. There was dancing, rocking music, noise makers, a CAKE, and even som loud streamer poppers! It was great to celebrate the birth of Jesus with all our church family! Afterwards, it was time to go home and to celebrate with Oma. Mom and Dad had appetizers but Elijah stuck to his bottle. Elijah was very interested in what we were eating.

Christmas Day was not so good. Elijah started running a low fever and was ever so fussy. Poor little guy. When he was happy Mom and Dad showed him a few of his toys. He seemed to enjoy the keyboard and ring stacker. Mostly the day was spent in Mom or Dad's arms. Elijah still has two more gifts to open, but he hasn't felt up to it. Mom will post more when Elijah is able to finish Christmas. Turns out little Eli has a virus and still is not back to normal. We hope tonight to read him the Christmas story and open the last of his gifts.

Here is the picture of Daddy reading Elijah the Christmas story from Luke. It was on New Year's Eve but don't tell anyone!

What an exciting day!

Yesterday Elijah had the most exciting day. Mom and Eli went over to the McCormicks to exchange gifts. Elijah had the best time playing with Powell and Laura Leigh. I think he is a little jealous of all the cool things they can do that he can't master yet. Mom was able to do some ornament crafts with the big kids and have lunch with Mrs. Wendy. Elijah didn't sleep but 20 mins in 5 hours, he didn't want to miss anything. Elijah feel asleep by the time his car seat made it to the car and slept for 4 hours! Wow! He had the cutest outfit on, Mom just had to share! Check out Elijah hair in the picture without the hat! Our little punk baby. :)

Christmas Cheer

Elijah is enjoying his first Christmas season, even if he doesn't really understand what all the fuss is about. He enjoys all the Christmas carols Mom and Dad are singing to him and the lights all around the house are particularly fascinating. :) Mom and Dad threw a Christmas party for a few friends. Elijah enjoyed seeing all the new people. Good food was had (check out the picture) but Elijah enjoyed his old stand by... The bottle. He didn't seem to mind. Dad took a good picture of Mom and Elijah and we both wanted to share.

All the presents are wrapped and under the tree. Mom can't help but get choked up as she wrote To: Elijah, From: Daddy and Mommy. Praise God for being able to say that this year. God is so good to us.

Mom tried to take pictures of Elijah wrapped in Christmas lights again. Elijah enjoyed the session this time.

Teething and a new taste

Elijah is teething. I am almost sure of it. Yesterday he starts screaming uncontrolably, not something he does usually. I tried everything then felt his gums, yep. Mom felt teeth. We tired ice wrapped in a wash cloth and that lasted for a min. Then we tried the great suggestion from our friend Diane, a frozen banana. We just happened to have one in the freezer. Mom wasn't happy to introduce solids early but she was willing to try anything. Elijah started smiling the biggest smile as soon as the banana taste touched his lips. The cold frozen part and the tasty banana part was just the right trick. I think Elijah wondered why we had been holding out. Put bananas on his keeper list. I will try to take pictures next time!
